WHAT IS COLD LASER THERAPY IN ORINDA CA?
Cold laser therapy utilizes a low-level laser of compressed “cold” light from the red section of the light spectrum. High-power medical lasers are used to cut through tissue, but low-level lasers are used to direct light for the purpose of healing and repairing damaged tissue.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR COLD LASER TREATMENT?
A cold laser looks something like a flashlight. During treatment the therapist will point the cold laser over the source of the problem for 4-10 minutes, depending on the body part being treated. Normally, we recommend coming in 2-3 times per week for laser therapy so the effectiveness of the laser can build up with each successive treatment.
Dr. Kevin has been in practice for over 26 years performing Chiropractic adjustments on the extremities and the spine.
IS THERE RESEARCH TO SUPPORT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COLD LASER THERAPY?
Over 2500 research reports on cold laser therapy have been published. Of these, more than 90% verify the clinical effectiveness of laser therapy and its value as a treatment.
ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS?
No side effects have been reported in the clinical trials or current clinical literature on cold laser therapy.
Low-level lasers aren't experimental tools, they've been used successfully in the medical field for over 30 years and the FDA defines then as a "non-significant" risk.
WHAT IS COLD LASER THERAPY GOOD FOR?
Cold laser therapy has been found to improve the condition of injured soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments) and relieve both acute and chronic pain. It's helpful for treating many chronic-pain conditions such as arthritis, back pain, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and fibromyalgia. Other positive effects of cold laser therapy include:
- Boosts the immune system
- Develops collagen
- Helps rebuild muscle tissue
- Generates healthy new cells
- Increases the speed of tissue repair
- Increased blood supply
- Reduces inflammation
- Speeds wound healing and promotes clot formation
- Stimulates nerve functions
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
The number of treatments required for each patient's specific
problem depends on their injury and can be determined after a thorough assessment by Dr. Kevin . There is no set amount, though an FDA study recommends 15 sessions. Our prepaid laser package is for 7 visits and is the most popular option. Laser visits can also be a la carte with each visit costing $60.
DOES COLD LASER THERAPY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL MEDICATIONS?
No, cold laser treatments are non-invasive and drug-free. Our chiropractor may recommend cold-laser as part of a multi-approach treatment plan along with some of our other chiropractic services, or it may be suggested as a stand-alone therapy.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Each laser treatment is $60 if done one by one. Treatment prices depend on many factors such as how many treatments are recommended and what other services you're receiving.
Dr. Kevin also has a take home laser which can be rented for
$400 for 7 days. The patient performs 14 visits total, 2 per day at 5 minutes per treatment. This is a wonderful option for patients who can not get in for laser therapy 2-3 times per week.
