Are you looking for answers about cold laser therapy in Orinda CA? Our team at Orinda Chiropractic & Laser Center can help you today!

Cold laser therapy utilizes a low-level laser of compressed “cold” light from the red section of the light spectrum. High-power medical lasers are used to cut through tissue, but low-level lasers are used to direct light for the purpose of healing and repairing damaged tissue.

A cold laser looks something like a flashlight. During treatment the therapist will point the cold laser over the source of the problem for 4-10 minutes, depending on the body part being treated. Normally, we recommend coming in 2-3 times per week for laser therapy so the effectiveness of the laser can build up with each successive treatment.

Dr. Kevin has been in practice for over 27 years performing Chiropractic adjustments on the extremities and the spine.

Low level laser therapy is over 55 years old and there are 8300+ published research articles on its’ clinical effectiveness. Each year 200+ studies are added so cold laser is a very effective tretment.

No side effects have been reported in the clinical trials or current clinical literature on cold laser therapy.

Low-level lasers aren't experimental tools, they've been used successfully in the medical field for over 30 years and the FDA defines then as a "non-significant" risk.

Cold laser therapy has been found to improve the condition of injured soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments) and relieve both acute and chronic pain. It's helpful for treating many chronic-pain conditions such as arthritis, back pain, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and fibromyalgia. Other positive effects of cold laser therapy include:

  • Boosts the immune system
  • Develops collagen
  • Helps rebuild muscle tissue
  • Generates healthy new cells
  • Increases the speed of tissue repair
  • Increased blood supply
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Speeds wound healing and promotes clot formation
  • Stimulates nerve functions

We never know the exact number of treatments a patient will need as it depends on the type and severity of the problem and how long it has been there. We will be assessing your specific needs when we see you in the office.

In general, we use the “Decade Rule” to determine approximately how many visits you will need. This is where we take a patient’s age and divide by 10 and round up. So an example is where a 46 year old will usually see noticeable or marked improvement between 4-5 visits.

Laser therapy visits are $65 for single treatments and a prepaid package of 6 visits is $360 (bringing the cost of each laser visit down to $60 apiece).

No, cold laser treatments are non-invasive and drug-free. Our chiropractor may recommend cold-laser as part of a multi-approach treatment plan along with some of our other chiropractic services, or it may be suggested as a stand-alone therapy.

Single laser visit: $65

6 visit treatment package: $360 ($60 each visit)

Dr. Kevin also has a take home laser which can be rented for $300 for 7 days. The patient performs 14 visits total, 2 per day (one in the morning and one in the evening) at 5 minutes per treatment. This is a wonderful option for patients who can not get in for laser therapy treatments 2-3 times per week.
